Kingda Ka has held the title of tallest roller coaster since 2005. A hydraulic launch fires riders from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds, straight up a 90-degree, 456-foot spike, then down a 270-degree spiral. The whole ride lasts 28 seconds — it is intensity measured in seconds, not minutes.
2. Top Thrill 2 — Cedar Point, USA (420 ft)
Formerly Top Thrill Dragster, this ride was rebuilt in 2024 with a second launch and reversed second tower, turning a one-trick launch coaster into a genuine out-and-back giga coaster. Still one of the fastest launches in the world.
3. Superman: Escape from Krypton — Six Flags Magic Mountain, USA (415 ft)
